More photos and technical details of the new Audi SQ2 that will arrive in January
The Audi SQ2 was officially unveiled to the world during the past Paris Motor Show. The brand of the four rings is committed to introducing this sport version in its smallest SUV. At that time we were informed of some performance data, but very few and, in addition, we only had an image of the model.
Today we have learned that the new Audi SQ2 will hit the Spanish market during next January, at which time they will also reveal their prices for our country. On the other hand, the firm of Ingoldstadt already tells us all technical changes regarding an Audi Q2, as well as the improvements in its cycle part .
More aggressive, but keeping the forms
The exterior image of the Audi SQ2 does not undergo major changes with respect to a Q2; they are rather mild brushstrokes that, although small, let us know that we are facing a more dynamic variant of the German crossover. On the front stand out the large lower air intakes of the bumper, the extensions of the bumpers, wheel arches and sills in a darker finish, as well as the specific design of the grille, also in a tonality darker. In the lateral of the unit we see in the images the quattro inscription appears, making it clear that This model has the mythical system of integral traction of the brand. Continuing with the side, there are ten designs and measures of tires , being 19 inches of the series. Behind them are some brake discs 340 mm front and 310 mm behind , attacked by a pair of clips with the logo S.
Meanwhile, in the rear has LED pilots and dynamic indicators, as well as a marked diffuser with four exhaust outlets , this being the hallmark of all models of sports S range of Audi. The logo SQ2 is also not missing on the left side of the tailgate.
If we go to the interior , we find several configuration possibilities. As standard in Spain, the Audi SQ2 comes with sport seats , front center armrest, climate control, multi-function steering wheel flattened at the bottom and with cams for automatic transmission management . The Audi virtual cockpit 12.3 inch instrument cluster is also standard, including the MMI Navigation plus system. The configuration options are very broad, being able to create a personal style.
300 CV, integral traction and more dynamic tuning
Regarding the mechanical part strong>, which is the most important in any sport variant, under the hood we find the well-known engine 2.0 TFSI of the Volkswagen group. It develops a maximum power of 300 HP , with a maximum torque of 400 Nm available between 2,000 and 5,200 rpm.
The Audi SQ2 is capable of to reach a maximum speed of 250 km/h, being able to go from 0 to 100 km/h in only 4.8 seconds. All this, in good part, thanks to the Quattro drive system and the S tronic dual clutch transmission with 7 speeds, with oil lubrication.Among other things, the body reduces its height by 20 mm , so it reduces the center of gravity and, therefore, offers a greater grip capacity. The progressive direction series also has a specific tare for the Audi SQ2.
As we said at the beginning of this article, the sportier version of the Audi Q2, the SQ2, will start its marketing in Spain during the next month of January. Their prices are still unknown, but we can already get the idea that will not be an especially cheap crossover . In any case, sales of the S range of the German firm grow almost every year, and this model will be very tempting for those customers looking for a compact, powerful and distinctive crossover .
